Jewellery Care

Jewellery Care

Stone Orchard jewellery is handcrafted using natural gemstones and quality metals. With a little care, your jewellery can stay beautiful for years to come.

Everyday Care

To help protect your jewellery, we recommend removing it before:

  • showering or bathing,
  • swimming,
  • exercising,
  • sleeping,
  • applying perfume, hairspray or cosmetics.

Avoid prolonged contact with water, chemicals and cleaning products, as these may affect both the metal and natural stones.

Natural Gemstones

Natural gemstones can vary in hardness and sensitivity. Some stones may be more delicate than others and can be affected by impact, heat, moisture or chemicals.

To protect them:

  • avoid dropping or knocking your jewellery against hard surfaces,
  • do not use harsh chemical cleaners,
  • avoid ultrasonic cleaners unless you are certain they are suitable for the specific gemstone.

Natural variations in colour, texture and inclusions are part of the beauty of genuine gemstones and should not be considered imperfections.

Sterling Silver

Sterling Silver 925 may naturally tarnish over time when exposed to air, moisture, cosmetics or perfume.

To restore its shine, gently polish silver components with a soft jewellery polishing cloth.

Avoid using abrasive products, as they may scratch the surface.

Gold-Filled Jewellery

Gold-filled jewellery is made with a substantial layer of gold bonded to a base metal, making it more durable than standard gold plating.

To keep it looking its best:

  • avoid prolonged exposure to water and chemicals,
  • remove jewellery before swimming or showering,
  • gently wipe it with a soft, dry cloth after wearing.

Avoid abrasive polishing products that could damage the gold surface.

Pearls

Pearls are naturally delicate and should be treated with extra care.

Avoid contact with:

  • perfume,
  • hairspray,
  • cosmetics,
  • household chemicals.

It is best to put pearl jewellery on last when getting ready and remove it first at the end of the day.

Gently wipe pearls with a soft cloth after wearing.

Cleaning Your Jewellery

For most Stone Orchard pieces, gentle cleaning is best.

Use a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth to remove dirt and oils.

If necessary, use a small amount of mild soap and lukewarm water, but avoid soaking the jewellery. Dry thoroughly afterwards.

Storage

Store your jewellery in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and humidity.

For best results:

  • keep each piece separately,
  • avoid storing jewellery tangled together,
  • use a jewellery pouch or box,
  • keep delicate gemstones away from harder stones that may scratch them.

Handmade Jewellery

Because each Stone Orchard piece is handmade, delicate components should always be handled with care.

Avoid pulling strongly on chains, clasps or gemstone strands.
